The 2024 Dodge Durango has been in flux recently. However, the latest information indicates that the Durango will have a "Last Call" variant featuring the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 that roars with 710 horsepower, making any arrival you make in Bridgeton undoubtedly turn a few heads. That version of the Durango will then "ride off into the sunset" as the twin-turbocharged, inline-six Hurricane engine takes over the gasoline-only duties. The Hurricane also closely matches top European engines of the same build and quality. There are plans for later Durangos to be electric, but those plans might change, and Dodge might provide an electric Durango for the 2025 model year.
Performance
Depending on its version, the Hurricane makes roughly 500 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque in other vehicles where it features. One of the Durango's chief claims to fame was its towing capacity. The "Last Call" Durango Hellcat can tow 8,700 pounds to a campsite around Millville today and throw down a quarter mile in 12 flats tomorrow. The Hurricane engine won't quite match the speed, but Dodge plans to keep its towing capacity the same in the 2025 Durango and its potential successors. On the skidpad, even the 5,500-pound Durango achieves a rating of 0.78 g, giving it excellent handling for a vehicle its size. The eight-speed transmission that comes with all variants shifts with nearly imperceptible grace.

Interior
In all, there are 15 trims of the Durango available. The SRT, for example, features an all-black interior with chrome accents and an upgraded infotainment system. The Hellcat mixes black with burnt orange in its interior. The R/T Plus goes with maroon instead of burnt orange, but the black and chrome accents remain. In all cases, the Durango features cubbies and other storage options throughout the interior so that all passengers can stow a few things comfortably. Each Durango has impressive cargo capacity, including three rows of seats for carrying people around Vineland and room for 30 suitcases with the two rear rows of seats folded. Even with all three rows in the upright position, you can still fit four suitcases behind the third row.
Infotainment
The Durango has the brand's top-of-the-line infotainment system. A 10.1-inch screen is standard in the higher trims, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims also include two HDMI screens for the rear passengers. The stereo system is upgradeable, too, and Glassboro shoppers can select more giant screens from the options list.
Fuel Economy
As you might expect, the Hellcat's fuel economy is only a combined 12 mpg. However, other V8 engines available before "Last Call" outperformed some V6s in the industry. In one case, a Durango R/T with the non-Hellcat V8 scored 23 mpg combined, while the V6s it surpassed only scored 22 mpg. The Hurricane's numbers with two-wheel drive are roughly the same as that of the Durango R/T's V8. The all-wheel drive versions score about four mpg less but vastly outperform the V8s they are replacing, except the Hellcat.
Safety
The Durango features a range of safety features, including:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Forward collision warning
- Lane-departure assistance
- Lane-keeping assistance
